PayPal Issues and Options
PayPal was once our only method of paying with credit card. Using PayPal permits RDS to not have customer financial information recorded or stored on the RDS website or file system. There are no financial security issues within RDS.
However, PayPal can be "finicky" when processing customer information when processing a payment from the store connection. The vast majority of the purchases are handled without problem. So, we know the store software is operating properly for most customer transactions.
We recently discoved PayPal has issue with large dollar amounts if there was a comma in the dollar amount. Amounts over $1000.00 that are posted as $1,000.00. Changes were made in the store software to midigate this issue.
If you already have a PayPal account, make sure the billing email and address in the RDS order matches your existing billing information in PayPal.
Also, make sure your billing address at the top of the billing page matches the name and address used with your Credit Card (CC) account. Any difference will cause a rejection. You can edit the addrees while on that page. This address is also used when selecting the Credit Card option available below PayPal.
You can designate a shipping address that is different than your billing address.
In PayPal, select "Pay with Credit Card" for a guest account if you do not have or do not want to create a PayPal account. Read carefully. You DO NOT have to create a PayPal account to use your credit card. However, PayPal has designed this page to encourage membership.
We have recently added a 2nd payment method, by selecting "Credit Card". This is the SQUARE credit card system. RDS has not seen the PayPal type issues with SQUARE.
The occasional remaining CC problems are resolved by selecting payment via Check/Money Order on the RDS order page.
Then in the order form comments, briefly indicate your problem with Credit Card processing and request we send you a Credit Card invoice from PayPal or SQUARE (or, our choice). The invoice Credit Card payment by invoice has always worked with either service so far...
DO NOT send actual payment by Check/Money-order if you want to pay through Credit Card invoicing.
Of course, if you intend to pay with Check / Money Order, please do send it.
